Professional training and support for education professionals are important steps in boosting student achievement in middle grades and high school, a precursor to preparing students for college and leading-edge careers. With capacity-building assistance from FHI 360, North Dakota’s eight regional associations provided professional learning opportunities to 2,000 teachers, 300 administrators, and 150 counselors and careers advisors during the 2013–14 school year. These opportunities ranged from workshops on building literacy and numeracy skills to one-on-one guidance on using classroom data to improve student performance.
